Over 100 Years Combined Experience

Blais Funeral Home was established in 1953 when Robert E. Jr. and Claire M. Blais came to Westbrook and purchased the Rocheleau Funeral Home at it’s current location at 35 Church Street in Westbrook.

Robert had graduated from American International College in Springfield , MA and from the New England Institute of Mortuary Sciences in Boston, MA. After serving in the Air Force he worked for his father in law, Roger Rice, for a short time at the Rice Funeral Home in Worcester, MA.

Hay Funeral Home was established by Harry Hay in 1903 and purchased by his son John Westbrook Hay in 1933. John was a graduate of Westbrook High School in 1928, Bowdoin College in 1932, and the Cincinnati School of Embalming in 1933.

In 2001, Robert E. Blais III and James A. Blais purchased the Blais Funeral Home from their father, and acquired the Hay Funeral Home from the Hay family, at which time it became the Blais & Hay Funeral Home.

Robert E. Blais III graduated from Westbrook High School in 1971, and from the New England Institute of Mortuary Sciences in 1973, at which time he began working with his father at Blais Funeral Home. He has three daughters, Suzanne, Elizabeth, and Sarah.

James A. Blais graduated from Westbrook High School in 1978, and from the New England Institute of Mortuary Sciences in 1981, at which time he began working with his father at Blais Funeral Home. He has a daughter Jennifer and a son Andrew. His wife Marcy works at the funeral home taking care of the book work.
