William “Billy” E. Watters

William “Billy” E. Watters, born December 1, 1955, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Billy passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of September 9th, 2026 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine while battling Renal Disease and Coronary Heart Disease. Billy was a beloved partner, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime. Billy is survived by his partner of eight years, Rita Rose, with whom he shared the later years of his life, as well as Nancy Watters, with whom he shared a long-lasting marriage of 27½ years. Both relationships were meaningful chapters in Billy’s life and part of the story that made him who he was.

Billy was predeceased by his mother, Donna Watters Peakall; his father, Charles Watters; his stepfather, Elden Peakall Sr.; his brother, Timothy Watters; his nana, Helen Thorne; his grandfather, Everett Thorne; his step sister, Ellen Bernier; his step sister, Joan McIntire; and several dear family, friends and mentors who held a special place in his life.

Billy is survived by his domestic partner, Rita Rose; his children, Christopher Watters of Buxton; Stephani Watters-Johnston and her husband, Alexander Johnston, of Gorham; and Jenna Watters of Buxton; and his beloved granddaughters, Annalee Watters and Zoey Johnston, who brought him so much love and joy. He is also survived by his former wife, Nancy Watters.

He is also survived by his sister, Anne McKenna and her husband, Robert; his uncle, James Thorne and his wife, Linda; his aunts, Lorraine Stergis and her husband, David, and Carol Varney; his step brother, Elden Peakall Jr; his step sister Sharon Black, his lifelong best friend, Kenneth Morrell Sr. and his wife, Jennifer; the entire Morrell family; Kenneth Jr, Ryan, Amanda, Katelyn and Nicole; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Billy spent most of his life in Sebago Lake Village in Standish, Maine. He retired from Mobile Pipeline in Portland after 20 years of service and proudly served the Town of Standish as a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years. Billy also spent many years helping friends with Morrell’s Septic Tank Service and Excavation and Stanley E. Hillock Well Company. Most of all he was known more for his “Supervising Role.” Some of his favorite work and memories came from the time he spent with his former friend Ralph Richardson and the Richardson family, working at Ralph Richardson Excavation and Richardson Boat Yard in Standish.

Billy had a special love for fairs. He made it his mission to visit as many fairs across the State of Maine as he could. Among his favorites were the Fryeburg Fair, Cumberland Fair, Skowhegan State Fair, and Clinton Fair. The Clinton Fair held a particularly special place in Billy’s heart. He volunteered there for many years, always finding something to do and someone to help. Whether it was helping vendors set up, assisting with the various pulling shows, or flipping burgers at the Clinton Lions Club booth, Billy was always ready to lend a hand.

Billy had a deep love for the outdoors, long drives, camping, and exploring the back roads of northern Maine. Some of his favorite places were Kokadjo, Greenville, and the Golden Road, where he enjoyed the beauty, peacefulness, and adventure that northern Maine had to offer. Many of Billy’s most cherished memories were made camping with his children and spending time with friends at camp. He especially enjoyed taking back-road trips with his good friends Denny Jordan and his wife, Gail, exploring new roads, sharing stories, and enjoying the journey as much as the destination.

Billy also loved traveling with his partner, Rita, creating special memories together on their trips. One of their favorite destinations was Marco Island, Florida. He enjoyed visiting casinos, watching NASCAR, and cheering on his all-time favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. Racing was more than something Billy simply watched, it was something he loved being a part of. He enjoyed spending time at the local racetrack, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, where he loved watching the races, helping with pit crews, and being part of a racing team. He enjoyed the excitement, the teamwork, and the friendships that came with being around the racing community.

Billy was known for his storytelling, his sense of humor, and his ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He loved playing cribbage, especially with his lifelong best friend, Kenny Morrell. Above all, Billy cherished his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and his granddaughters, Annalee Marie Watters and Zoey Donna Johnston.

Visiting Hours will be held at Dolby Funeral Home 434 River Road in Windham Maine, Friday September 25th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 26 at 11:00am at the Funeral Home Following the burial at Sebago Lake Village Cemetery in Standish Maine. A Celebration of Life will follow at Moodys Collision Center 200 Narragansett St. Gorham.
