Westbrook- William "Bill" S. Boothby, 90, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2022. He was born June 9, 1932 in Portland Maine to Dorothy and Frank Boothby. He was 1 of 9 brothers and sisters. Bill graduated from high school and was then drafted into the United States Army where he served his country with pride. After ending his military service, Bill worked for the city of Portland for 40+ years. At the time of his retirement he was the head of civil engineering for the city. He also served on the Westbrook planning board for many years throughout the 70s and 80s. He married the love of his life Patricia "Pat", in April of 1956. They raised 3 sons together in Westbrook and were married for 49 years at the time of Pat's passing in 2005. Bill loved to golf and take trips to Foxwoods with his wife and friends. He would often take his sons to watch the airplanes depart at the airport, a family outing tradition that came to be passed on to his grandsons and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, Pat, he was predeceased by his grandson, Justin A. Boothby. Surviving are his sons, Mark Boothby, Mike Boothby and Brian Boothby; Grandsons, Bryan Boothby and his wife, Rebecka, and Michael Boothby; Great grandchildren, Emma Boothby, Justin G. Boothby and Hudson Boothby. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 18 at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland.
