STANDISH, ME - William Orr, 88, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on August 27, 2022. He was born on September 20, 1933 in Montclair, NJ. William was raised in Ridgewood, NJ graduating from Ridgewood High School in 1951. After high school he served in the US Army. He returned home to NJ after his military service where he married his wife Nellie Susan Selle in 1959. The couple lived in Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, and Saddle River, NJ before retiring together to Standish, ME in 1992. William was the Plant Manager for Thermwell Products in Paterson, NJ for many years. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, and flying his plane. William was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Ida Burweger. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nellie Susan Orr of Westbrook ME; his daughter, Susan Diana Orr of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Frances Orr of Winchester, VA; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road Wrightstown, NJ where all friends and family are invited to attend. Interment will immediately follow the graveside service. Services are being arranged by Peppler Funeral Home 114 S. Main Street Allentown, NJ.
