Obituary

William T. Meador, 82, of Pennell St., Westbrook, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Maine Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Reidsville, NC, Oct. 13, 1930, the son of Thomas and Gratice (Pearson) Meador.  He was raised in North Carolina and entered the Coast Guard after graduating from high school.  While serving in the Coast Guard he met Jacqueline Lefebvre, whom he later married and moved to Westbrook. He began his career at Central Maine Power and moved on to New England Telephone (Verizon) where he retired after 35 years of service. He was a fourth Degree Knight and Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as State Deputy from 1990 to 1992.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #62, the Woodford's Club, the New England Telephone and Telegraph Pioneers, and the St. Mary's Men's Club.  After retiring he worked for Avis shuttling cars, and for the law firm of Robinson, Krieger, and McCallum providing transportation services. William especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years Jacqueline (Lefebvre) Meador, a sister Robinette Husketh, brother-in-law Ben Husketh, niece Betsy Husketh, and a grandson Brent Berry. William is survived by his daughters Stephanie Deroche and husband Peter of Portland, Kimberly Berry and husband Steven of Westbrook; grandchildren Christopher Deroche, Sarah Deroche, Haley Berry, and Matthew Berry; brother and sister-in-laws Alphee and Judith Lefebvre, Paul and Margaret Lefebvre, and Norman and Pat Lefebvre, several nieces and nephews, and his best friend Germaine McAtee and her extended family. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 PM Sunday, May 5, at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.  Prayers will be recited at 10:15 AM Monday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Anthony's Church on Brown St. in Westbrook.  Interment will be at a later date.  On line condolences may be expressed at www.blaisandhayfuneralhome.com. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Maine Medical Center, especially on the R2 and R4 floors.
