William George McCallister Jr., 57, of Montrose Ave., Portland, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 after a long illness. He was born in Portland, the son of William and Marietta (Magno) McCallister. After graduating from high school William joined the Coast Guard, serving from 1973 to 1986. He was stationed in Japan during his service. William later worked as a dispatcher for Town Taxi and Elite Taxi companies for many years. He found great joy in building models and rockets, movies, making lists, and had a love of cats. He is survived by his mother Marietta Nizza of Portland; his sons Stewart McCallister, wife Jackie and their son Riley of Gorham, and Scott McCallister of Windham; daughters Emilee McCallister, Kendra McCallister, and Bethany McCallister, all of Raymond; a brother Tony Nizza of Portland; and his close friends Wanda Bernard-McCallister and Victoria McCallister. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday followed by a time of remembrance at 7 PM at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook.
