Windham – William "Bill" M. Petty, 67, died on January 5, 2016. He was born in Portland, on October 7, 1948, the son of William and Florence (Read) Petty. Bill grew up in the Portland area and attended local schools. Bill joined the US Navy and proudly served his country. After he was discharged, Bill attended University of Southern Maine. Bill was a government employee for over 32 years, finally retiring in 2015. On August 25, 1990, his whole life changed when he married Paula Magliocca. Together, they raised their son, Ethan. Bill could not have been prouder of his son, and he enjoyed every moment of watching Ethan and his teammates. Bill was a diehard Boston Red Sox and New York Giants fan. He was also excellent at trivia. Bill was a member of the Windham Veteran's Center, and was a former member of the Down Easters Barbershop Chorus. Bill's enthusiasm about life was contagious, and everything he did, he did with gusto. Bill is survived by his wife, Paula; son, Ethan Petty; sisters-in-law, Tina Supple and husband Tom of Victor, NY and Nikki Carter and husband Stan of Lubec; nephew and three nieces, Mark and Julie Supple and Becka and Amanda Carter.~ He also leaves behind many close cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by half brother, Richard Petty. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of the memorial service at 12 noon, on Saturday, January 9, 2015, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. A memorial fund has been established to support Ethan in his continued college education.
