Westbrook – William "Bill" Landry, 69, passed away Tuesday, June 6th, 2023. He was born, raised, educated in and then raised his family in Westbrook, Maine. He is the fourth child and youngest son of the late Della (Gagnon) and Robert Landry. A well-known salesman in his community, Bill started with delivering the local newspaper from his bicycle, graduated to selling goods out of the trunk of his car in highschool and later held the position of local milkman, chip and snack distributor and then the proud owner of Landry Distributors before his retirement in June of 2016. A loving endearment often shared about Bill (one of many!) was that he could "talk a dead cow off a meat truck." Skilled with his words, charismatic with his work, and rarely willing to take the "final offer" as the final offer, Bill was well-connected, well-versed, and adored by everyone who knew him. Just ask his most recent team at Berlin City Toyota where he worked till his last day as a shuttle driver socializing with guests of the service shop while safely driving them where they needed to be. "We received more compliment cards about how great talking to Bill was then we did about the services we performed," said his manager and friend after learning of his passing. Then there was his family. As the baby brother, he grew up with three Mom's- his darling mother Della, and his older sisters, Joan Marie and Sharon. He and his only brother, Norman, never stood a chance with those all-seeing ladies! Never living more than a few miles away, Bill rarely missed a family event, barbeque or day at the Landry camp on Forest Lake. When his son, Rob, was in school, Bill coached his minor league baseball team and then they spent their winters skiing the slopes. When his bonus son's Josh and Caleb got into a little trouble, Bill was right there to highlight the lessons learned and encourage them to make it right. His bonus daughter Lizabeth, finished her Master's degree the same week he retired in 2016 and invited him on the first leg of her cross-country roadtrip. After a split-second of thought, he packed a bag and joined her the following day driving from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon making stops to see friends, family, and the little towns often flown over along the way. Bill was no stranger to adventures of course, having enjoyed many cruises through the Caribbean with his wife, Bernice (Maley) Landry, family vacations to the East Coast with his kids, and possibly his favorite, motorcycle rides through the New England mountains with his nearest and dearest friends from childhood. Countless fond memories could be shared about the Sunday morning rides leaving from his driveway after his wife and daughter cooked and served breakfast sandwiches to the 20/30/40 motorcycle riders gathered at 7am. Forced to slow down (a little) by his health, he sold his bike, leased another new truck, and enjoyed more local adventures with his growing family and adored grandchildren. Bill was so proud to be a Grandpa and always gushing about his son Rob and wife, Amanda Landry of Georgia and their two kids currently enrolled in universities; his bonus son's, Josh and wife, Kaleigh Maley, and their two children, playing football and dancing away in Windham, Maine and Caleb, US Army Veteran, with his wife Jennifer Wilder, and two sons living their best life in big sky Montana; his bonus daughter, Lizabeth and her husband, Derek Bedard, of Arundel, Maine, chasing their two toddlers in circles around the yard; and his bonus bonus son, Brandon and wife, Paula Jenkins, who have both proudly served and are continuing to serve in the US Army while raising a trio of beautiful young ladies. A generous man in his community, a wise salesman through and through, and most importantly, a loving family man, Bill is already missed beyond measure. In adoration, Bill's siblings, Joan Marie and husband, Bill Smith of Westbrook, Norman and wife, Peggy Landry of Westbrook, and his sister Sharon Baker (wife to her late husband, John Baker) of Westbrook, won't let a day go by without remembering their little brothers' charming humor, kind smile, and generous heart. We invite the community to join our family in a Celebration of Life to honor Bill on July 8, 2023 at the Eagles in Westbrook, Maine from 10-12 in the morning. In lieu of gifts and flowers, please consider donating funds, food, or blankets to the Animal Refuge League of Westbrook in Bill's memory. In Bill's words, "I don't want anyone crying over me. If you're going to get together and I know my siblings will want to… make it fun, laugh, and enjoy each other for me."
