****SERVICE CHANGE NOTICE**** Due to inclement weather, services for William have changed. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham, ME 04062. A reception will immediately follow at the Windham Baptist Church, 973 River Rd., Windham, ME 04062. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Casco Fire and Rescue, 635 Meadow Road, Casco, Maine 04015 or the American Cancer Society, New England Chapter, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. CASCO – William A. Horton, Jr., age 74, passed away on February 5, 2017 in St. Cloud, Florida following a long-term illness. Born in August 1942 in Portland, Maine son of William A. Sr. and Caroline B. Horton. William attended Deering High School, Class of 1960. He was employed by H.P. Hood Milk Co. of Portland prior to entering into the purchase and rental of several homes and apartments in the Windham area. William served as an active long term member of the Fire and Rescue units of Windham as well as the Rescue Unit of Casco. He served as Chief and Paramedic of both units. Bill also served for many years on the Southern Maine EMS Board of Directors. He also served as Planning Board Chairman for many years in both Windham and Casco. William and his wife Linda were the founders and owners of Casco Inn Residential Care Facility. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and the ability to easily turn any conversation held to the topic of classic automobiles, one of his great loves. William is pre-deceased by his parents as well as his sister Carol of Hollis, New Hampshire.
