IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Hilton
September 7, 1954 – March 18, 2026
Bill Hilton Tribute
Portland, Maine Elks Lodge #188
Starts at 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
William Carlisle Hilton, 71 years old, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 18th. Known to all as Bill, he was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Mary Carlisle Hilton and William Rogers Hilton. Although born and raised in Delaware, Bill spent many of his summers in Maine with his Hilton and Carlisle cousins in various communities along the Maine coast. He especially enjoyed his time spent at the family home in Lucerne, Maine.
Bill was a University of Maine graduate. He started his studies in Forest Engineering and completed his degree in Civil Engineering. Bill worked many jobs over his lifetime - he was a land use surveyor, a self-employed builder and retired from LL Bean as a workforce coordinator.
Bill was a loving and sensitive man devoted to his family. Bill married Colleen Noyes Hilton and was looking forward to their forty third anniversary in the fall. Together they have three children: William, Emily and John. Bill’s greatest joy in retirement was the time he spent with his granddaughter Colleen (Coco). Bill is also survived by his siblings, Mary Jane Hess, Susan Gays, and Peggy Cloutier, along with brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren of both the Hilton and Noyes families.
Bill was a passionate collector of hobbies. Among his true loves (aside from Colleen) were music, cats, and race cars. He was a talented carpenter and the go to guy if you needed help with a project, home repairs, car troubles, computers, bikes or golf clubs.
In addition to his family, Bill has enjoyed special time reconnecting with his friends from college and racing, as well as his LL Bean colleagues.
The family is incredibly grateful to the South Portland Public Safety personnel who responded and assisted Bill and the family in managing this cardiac emergency.
Per Bill’s wishes there is no formal funeral service. The family welcomes all to a Bill Hilton Tribute this Sunday, March 22nd. The gathering will take place at the Portland Elks, 1945 Congress Street, at 2pm.
Please no flowers are needed, but feel free to make a donation to the charity of your choice in his honor.
