Obituary

William F. Curran Jr. of Portland passed away May 21st at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. William was born May 30, 1924 the son of William Curran Sr. and Ruth Blanchard Curran.   William worked as a photographer for Portland Press Herald for 41 years, taking pictures at sports games of athletes in the area. He won an award for his photographs of the demolition of Union Station. William was also a member of the Eagles Associates.   William had a passion for sports; he enjoyed watching his grandsons Patrick and Kalen play football for the Portland Bulldogs, and enjoyed watching his great grandson Dustin play basketball for Bonney Eagle. He lived at home, and took care of himself right up until he was 90. He was predeceased by his mother and father, his two brothers George and John Curran, sister Florence Michaud, and granddaughter Kelley Cole. He is survived by his sons Tim Curran and wife Melinda, and Tiger Curran. Daughters; Michaelene Thompson and husband Keith, Kathleen Dudley, Maureen Falcone and husband Daniel. He has 10 grandchildren: Patrick Curran, Shaun Curran, Kalen and wife Sarah, Leigh-Anne Fortin and husband Rick, Matthew Dalton and wife Teresa, LJ and Will Johnson, Kathleen Holbrook, Daniel Cole. His nine great grandchildren: Calvin, Kasen, Glorya, Dustin, Zilphy, Derek, Keegan, Kylie, and Nolan.   William enjoyed spending time on his computer, he was proud of his Irish heritage, and enjoyed having a cold beer with his buddies. The family would like to thank the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.   Visiting hours will be held from 3-6PM on Thursday May 28th with a service at 6PM at Blais & Hay Funeral Home.
