Wayne Harold Nason, a lifelong resident of Portland, passed away on November 12, 2014, at the Maine Medical Center following a long illness. He was born in Portland, Maine on January 23, 1949, to LaVerne and Jacquelyn Nason. Nason attended Portland schools and was a graduate of Portland High School. Following his graduation, he worked in the trucking and heavy equipment business, becoming a skilled driver and equipment operator. He was employed by Congdon Transportation, Deering Junction Warehouses and Nappi Towing. In 1991 Nason founded Bayside Towing and later purchased Nappi Towing in 2007 and was involved in both businesses until his death. Well known in the area, Wayne became a respected businessman in the towing and storage field. Wayne enjoyed working in his gardens and maintaining his lawn. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with his family to the lakes and ponds of Northern Maine. Wayne was also a loyal Red Sox fan and a perennial rooter for the New York Giants. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, brothers Gerald Nason and Richard Weymouth and his sister, Bonnie Nason Rideout. Wayne is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah, of Portland, daughter Anissa Millette, son –in-law, Jason Millette and their children, Bridgette, Jereme and Isabelle, of Portland. Nason never missed a school or athletic event in which his grandchildren participated. Also surviving are siblings, James, Randy, Jody, Joey, Kelly and Josh Nason and sister Donna Connors, all of Portland. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 17th, from 5 to 8 PM with a service to follow at 8:00 PM at Blais and Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St. Westbrook. Interment will be private.
