Waltraud Hildegard Drouin, 88, of West Commonwealth Drive, Portland ME, passed away August 4, 2013 at her home after a brief illness. She was born on May 24, 1925 and raised in Germany. She met her husband Richard A. Drouin while he was stationed in Germany during WW II. She came to the United States with their daughter, Esther, in 1951. She worked at S.D. Warren Co. and Fairchild many years ago. She was a member of Westbrook Senior Citizens Group and enjoyed all of the meetings that she attended. Her interests included traveling, dancing, and flowers. She spent summers at the family cottage in Standish on Sebago Lake. Surviving are her children, Esther J. Broad and her husband Gary Broad of Saco, Michelle C. LeBorgne and her husband Gerry LeBorgne of Derry NH, and Thomas M. Drouin and his wife Cathy Drouin of Westbrook, ME. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. Special mention of thanks to Bridget Moran, a neighbor who Hildegard always considered as her surrogate daughter. Also, a special mention of thanks to the VNA Hospice employees for their special care and attention to mom over the last few weeks. There will be no visiting hours.
