Standish- Walter L. Fossett Sr. 90, passed away in Scarborough on March 18, 2018. The son of Loring and Louise (Robbins) Fossett, he was born in Bristol Maine on July 20, 1927. He graduated from Bristol High School in 1945 and joined the Merchant Marines serving his country during WWII. In 1948 he married Lorraine Tanner. He drove truck for A&P Tea Company, Standard Linen, Cott Bottling and Tanberg of Windham. He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine in 2012. He is survived by his son Walter L. Fossett Jr and his wife Norma, his daughters Nancy Fossett and Sandra Kierstead and her husband David, his six grandchildren Aaron Fossett and his wife Sheryl, Andrew Fossett and his wife Veronica, Gordan Wiley and his wife Brooke, Andrea Wiley, Nicholas Kierstead and Nicole Wickerham and her husband Bryan, seven great grandchildren, his sister Elsie Herald and several nieces and nephews. Walter's family wishes to thank the staff of Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, for all the care and comfort they provided to him and his family. A memorial service will take place on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM, at North Gorham Congregational Church, 4 Standish Neck Rd, North Gorham. Arrangements are under the care of the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Walter's memory to an animal shelter.
