Westbrook, Walter Robert Clarke passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Spring Brook Nursing Home in Westbrook .   Walter was born on August 1, 1935 to Herbert and Emily (Temm) Clarke in Scarborough.   He attended Scarborough schools and went to the eighth grade.  He worked as a supervisor at Hermon Shoe Store.   Walter loved to play cards and according to his sister Marion he cheated all the time.   He took great pleasure in teasing everyone.  He enjoyed hunting and had a large gun collection, fishing, and loved NASCAR racing.  He also worked at Beech Ridge Speedway in the Pit.  He loved horses and raced as a jockey  at Scarborough Downs for a short time. He is pre deceased by his ex-wife, Betty Hatch, and a son, Michael Clarke. He is survived by a son, Timothy Clarke, a brother Niles Clarke and spouse Carol from Scarborough;his sisters Marion Clarke and Helen Gerding both of Westbrook.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 10 to 12 PM, followed by a service at 12:00 PM.  Burial will take place after at Brooklawn Memorial Park.
