Obituary

WINDHAM—Wallace Arthur "Wally" Wyman, 87, of Windham, died July 4, 2017 at his home. He was born May 26, 1930, a son of Ira and Addie (Varney) Wyman Sr.. Wally grew up in Windham and graduating in the class of 1948. A member of the Windham High School All Star Baseball Team, Wally was a talented baseball player who even had the opportunity to try out for the Philadelphia Phillies. After graduation, he began his career working at S.D. Warren as a papermaker. On July 20, 1957, he married Charlotte Babbidge and together they raised a son, Thomas A. Wyman. He worked 44 years at the papermill until his retirement in 1992. Wally enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his vegetable gardens. He was a member of the Army Reserves for many years, and was a member of the Presumpscott Lodge #127. Wally is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Charlotte Wyman of Windham; a son, Thomas Wyman and his wife Patricia of Windham; a brother, Ira Wyman Jr. of Windham; nieces Joyce Lauzier of Windham, and Jane Priest of Manassas, Virginia, and a nephew Peter Wyman of Standish. He was predeceased by siblings, Robert Wyman and Viola Wolcott, and a nephew, Paul Wyman. A public visitation will be held on Sunday, July 9 from 12noon to 1pm at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, ME 04082, with a funeral service beginning at 1pm. Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery in Windham. Following the burial, all are welcome to a reception at Charlotte's home, 590 Gray Rd., Windham, ME 04082. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Wally's name may be made to the charity of your choice.
