Virginia "Jean" DelPonte, 88, passed away November 21, 2022, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice Home. Jean, the daughter of Emma Nelson-Phinney and Henry Nelson, was born on June 9, 1934 in Cape Elizabeth, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1952. On 7/17/1955 she married the love of her life Joseph Delponte. They were inseparable for 63 years. They settled in Westbrook and raised their two sons Larri and Vincent. Jean worked for Mark Stinson and Peterson realty for a number of years and finished her career with The State of Maine Department of Human Service. After retirement Joe and Jean traveled to Italy and Hawaii, which was their life-long dream. Jean enjoyed Cooking, shopping and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Joseph and his brother Ralph DelPonte, her brothers, Henry, Theodore, Wendell. Surviving are her sisters Patricia Baker, Diana Phinney and Brother Jerry Nelson and wife Betsy, and sister -in -law Sylvia DelPonte, Son Larri DelPonte and Wife Jane (Morin) Delponte and grandchildren Dustin and Amberly, Son Vincent DelPonte and partner Brian Bragdon, and many nieces, nephews and cousins that were dearly loved by Jean. The family thanks the staff of Maine Medical Center and the Gosnell House, Scarborough Me, for the loving care Jean received while there. Visiting house will be 12/1, Thursday 5-7pm at Dolby, Blais & Segee, at 35 church St Westbrook, Me and graveside 12/2, Friday 12:00pm at Riverside Memorial Park, Rt 77 Cape Elizabeth, Me.
