Obituary

Portland _ Vincent P. Lebel, passed away Monday Jan. 8 in his home at the age of 85. He was born in Westbrook, the son of Semeon and Lucy Lefebvre Lebel. He had resided in Portland most of his life. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Master Gunnery Sgt. With 22 years of dedicated service. He received numerous aards and recognitions for his outstanding achievements. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Additional tours of duty were Cherry Point, NC., Camp Lejuene, NC. And Iwakuni, Japan. His second retirement was from the Weyerhauser Co. in Westbrook, where he was a reliable and dependable employee, throughout his years there. He was a well known and much loved member of the community, always smiling, upbeat and joking with all he encountered. His last recognition was being spotlighted on the wall of influential patrons, for all to see. At the Old Country Buffet, where he regularly visited with friends. He is survived by his son Dr. Michael V. Lebel and grandson Kevin M. Lebel both of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., a sister Fern Poitras of Westbrook. He will always be remembered by the hearts he touched. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home 35 Church St. Westbrook. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church Brown St. Westbrook. Interment with Marine Corps honors will follow in Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society Maine Div. One Main St. Topsham, ME. 04086.
