WINDHAM—Victoria Irene Bowen, 71, passed away on July 4, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 22, 1947, a daughter of William and Phyllis (Verrill) Szostak. Vickie grew up in Windham, and attended local schools. She furthered her education by taking medical courses, allowing her to work in the medical field. She spent her working years as a unit secretary for Thayer Hospital in Waterville. Vickie had a great sense of humor and was fulfilled by bringing joy into other people's lives. She was a cheerleader for the underdog and loved spending time with all the children in her extended family. She was a gift to her family and friends as her hugs were so comforting to others, especially when they were needed the most. Vickie enjoyed doing crafts, and was proud of her 33 years of sobriety through AA. She attended the Highland Cliff Advent Church where she enjoyed helping in the kitchen. She is survived by her siblings, Thomas Szostak and his wife Sally, and Mary Dutton and her husband, Thomas, and sister in law Christine Szostak; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her long-time companion, Richard Parsons; and siblings, John Szostak and Barbara Jean Szostak. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 3pm at the Highland Cliff Advent Church, 96 Highland Cliff Rd., Windham, ME 04062.
