Westbrook, The kind, gentle soul of Velma Parker Harvey went to be with the Lord on Nov. 17, 2012.  Velma passed away at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born on September 2, 1918 in Buxton, Maine, the daughter of Ernest and Lizzie Parker.  Velma grew up in Buxton and graduated from Buxton High School. On November 6, 1944 in Westbrook, Maine she married Roger Harvey Sr.  They enjoyed 66 years together, beginning their family in Westbrook, Maine. Velma was a thoughtful and loving woman who will be greatly missed by all.  She was a wonderful wife and homemaker, always having a pot of coffee on for family and friends just stopping by.  Velma devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Velma was predeceased by her husband Roger Harvey Sr.; her daughter-in-law Susan Simpson Harvey; her sisters Ernestine, Lenora, Maud, Nellie, and her brother Erlane. Velma is survived by her son Roger Harvey Jr. and wife Susan of Westbrook; daughter Tina Harvey of Old Orchard Beach; two grandsons Peter Harvey and his wife Sue and Bobby Harvey and his wife Anne; and five great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler, Isabelle, Jack, and Max; and many wonderful nieces and nephews that have stayed in touch over the years. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at he Gosnell Memorial House for the kind and gentle care of Velma.
