Thomas Varney, 75, of Huntersville, North Carolina passed away on June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born and raised with values of steadiness, kindness, and quiet strength, Thomas carried those qualities with him throughout his life and into every relationship he nurtured.

Thomas spent many years as a dedicated truck driver, a profession that suited his love of the open road. He took pride in knowing the highways and backroads of this country, finding joy in the miles he traveled and the sights he encountered along the way. The road was more than his workplace—it was a place of peace, purpose, and quiet adventure. Those who knew him will remember the stories he shared from his travels and the calm, grounded presence he brought home after long journeys.

Outside of work, Thomas embraced life with enthusiasm and heart. He loved to golf, finding joy in the quiet challenge of the game and the time spent outdoors. Growing up, he cherished camping, appreciating the simplicity of being outside and the time spent exploring. As a father, he created lasting memories on family camping road trips down south, where the long drives, shared experiences, and time together became treasured traditions. In his younger years, he found excitement and community in racing cars at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, a passion that stayed with him long after his time on the track. And to his very last days, he remained an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and the Red Sox, cheering for his teams with unwavering loyalty and pride.

Thomas is survived by his former spouse, Karen Varney with whom he shared meaningful chapters of life and family. He is also survived by his daughter and son‑in‑law, Laurie and Todd Goodheart; his son and daughter‑in‑law, Michael and Jenny Hudson; his stepdaughter and son‑in‑law, Chelsea and Jason Tarr; and his stepdaughter and son‑in‑law, Kelly and Cody Beckett.

He was a proud grandfather to Chloe, Kianna, and Joey Goodheart; Benjamin and Lucas Tarr; and Declan Beckett. Each of them brought him joy, laughter, and a deep sense of pride. Their milestones, their energy, and the love they shared with him were among the brightest parts of his life, and they carry forward his gentle strength and steady kindness.

He approached each day with humility and a generous spirit, offering help without hesitation and friendship without condition. His gentle humor, thoughtful nature, and steady reliability made him someone people trusted and cherished.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Road, Windham, ME 04062. A graveside service will follow at North Gorham Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a man whose quiet impact and steady love will be remembered always.
