Thomas W. "Tommy" Gleason, 67 WINDHAM - Thomas W. "Tommy" Gleason, 67, of Windham, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Morristown, New Jersey. He was born June 1, 1948, in Harlem, NY, the son of the late Thomas A. Gleason and Frances (Pugh) Gleason. After graduating high school, Tommy attended St. Francis College in Biddeford, now the University of New England, where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Engineering. He then returned to New York City and began his career operating heavy machinery, eventually becoming the training director for Local 14-14B International Union of Operating Engineers. He met his wife, Nancy, 44 years ago, eloping with her in Maryland five months after their meeting. Together, they raised two daughters in Long Island before moving to Gorham, Maine to escape the stress of city living. After several years in Maine, Tommy retired and they bought a small farm in Windham where they raised turkeys, chickens and pigs. Eventually, Tommy started paying attention to local politics, and was elected to the Windham town council in 2010. Throughout his time on the town council, Tommy was known for his desire to make Windham better, as well as caring for the community and its residents. In addition to his parents, Tommy is predeceased by daughter Kathleen Mary Gleason. Tommy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Allis Gleason, their daughter, Melanie Gleason and son-in-law, Rob Giorgio, of Windham, siblings Terry Ann Gleason, of Elmont, NY, Tim Gleason and his wife Terry, of Valhalla, NY, Tara and George Dietrich, of Garden City, NY and Todd Gleason, of Long Beach, NY. Visiting hours will be held 4-9 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 919 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. Following services a reception celebrating Tommy's life will be held at the Windham Town Hall, 8 School Road, Windham.
