In Loving Memory of Thomas W. Dyke A Life Well-Lived It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Dyke, who left us on July 10, 2025 at the age of 68. Tom was a beloved husband, father, and friend whose legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication will forever be cherished by all who knew them. A Personal Journey Born on August 10, 1956, in Portland Maine, Tom grew up with a passion for Drag Racing, Muscle Cars, Motorcycles, and mechanics, which shaped his early years. As a child, Tom displayed remarkable interest in how things work. Growing up, Tom attended Windham High School and went on to pursue a life long career in heavy truck repair. Professional Life Tom embarked on a career in mechanics beginning as a floor sweeper and chasing parts for mechanics at Mac Trucks in Portland. One of the mechanics took Tom under his wing, gave him an engine to rebuild and that was the beginning of his lifelong love/hate relationship with trucks. Tom worked at many truck shops throughout Southern Maine and was about to retire in October from Penske Truck Leasing where he worked as a Virtual Diagnostic Technician for the last 5 years working from his home office in Saco Family and Friends Above all, Tom was a devoted husband. Having met Lisa late in life through the Patriot Riders of Maine they soon realized they were meant for each other with their love of supporting veterans' groups, dogs, and riding adventures. Tom also enjoyed the time spent with his son Jarrod, daughter-in-law Catherine, and grandson Lachlan when they visited from Boston. Tom also has another son and grandchildren who's whereabouts are unknown. Tom was also known for his close-knit circle of friends, who cherished his laughter, wisdom, and unwavering loyalty. The bonds formed with friends were a testament to the genuine, caring nature that Tom embodied. Passions and Interests In his free time, Tom enjoyed riding his motorcycle, target practice, watching drag racing and traveling. Tom and Lisa's adventures included a wedding in Las Vegas, tour of Scotland, Cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal as well as many thousands of miles exploring the US and Canada on the motorcycles, sometimes with the dogs on back. Even before he met Lisa, Tom traveled several times to the Dominican Republic with his buddies. One such trip over the Christmas holiday they brought duffle bags full of toys, sporting equipment, and clothes for the local children of the DR bring great joy to the children. Community Involvement Tom was a pillar of the community, actively participating in veterans causes, where his efforts made a profound impact. Whether it was volunteering for the Traveling Vietnam Wall with Wounded Heroes Program of Maine, helping organize charity rides for various groups, building ramps for veterans in need, or simply offering a helping hand, Tom exemplified the spirit of generosity and civic engagement. Legacy Tom's legacy is one of love, dedication, and resilience. He touched the lives of many, leaving behind countless memories and a lasting influence. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led, and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. Tom is survived by his wife Lisa (Junkins) Dyke, Son Jarrod (Catherine) Dyke, sister Teresa (Jeffrey) Sanborn, Aunt Judy (Eric) Booker, grandson Lachlan Dyke and his dogs Dolly, Max, Stella, and Lucy the cat. Tom is preceded in death by parents John and Barbara (Wentworth) Dyke and his beloved dogs, Nitro, who got him through the first cancer battle in 2012, Buffy, Shadow, and Betty. His memory will be kept alive by all those who were fortunate enough to know them. Final Arrangements Visiting hours will be held on July 24, 2025 5pm-7pm & July 25, 11am-1pm, at Dolby Blais & Segee 435 River Road, South Windham Maine where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and honor Tom's life.
