Obituary

Theresa Marie Works passed away wrapped in love at her home on November 16, 2022, just as the first snowflakes of the season began to fall gently from the predawn sky. Quietly courageous, she battled ovarian cancer with grace, without complaint, and with all she had for seven years. "Terry" was a beloved wife, doting mother, proud grandmother, precious daughter, kind sister, and more. She was surrounded by her large and adoring family who will continue to honor her legacy by living lives filled with love. Terry was born October 6, 1961 to Ethel and Olin Johnson Sr. and enjoyed a storybook Maine childhood filled with endless fishing trips, Sebago Lake summers, snowmobile winters, and extended family from Cumberland to Aroostook County. Terry attended Gorham schools and graduated in 1979. It was during this time she met the love of her life Ronald (Ron) Works while working on a local farm at just 14 and 15 years old. Terry and Ron were married in August 1979, and their unwavering love continued for the next 44 years. Together they built their home with their own hands on their beautiful land in Windham and had three children, Kelli, Matthew and Ryan. Being a mother was truly her life's work. Terry ran a home daycare while raising her children and then went on to work at Haven's Candies, in a creative role she loved and where she continued to work even through all her years of chemotherapy treatments. She enjoyed the simple things in life: cooking delicious meals, gardening, spending time at camp on Harmon's Beach, feeding her chickens, and enjoying all the events involving her grandchildren. She was a proud "Mamie" and lit up every time she talked about her grandbabies. Terry was and always will be an integral part of her entire family. She was known for her kindness, humility, and courage and will always be remembered for creating unique nicknames, her ability to make the best of anything, her quick wit and zingers, and trying to get Ron to hurry up. She will be dearly missed by her family: her devoted husband Ron Works, daughter Kelli Crosby and husband Michael, son Matt Works and Amber Loring, son Ryan Works and wife Katie, her grandchildren Jordan and Peyton Crosby, Nolan and Ryan "Chicky" Works, Abigail and Bailey Works, her mother Ethel Johnson, her sisters Mary Jo and Cathy, her brothers Olie "Bruddy" and Mark, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. Her faith gave Terry great comfort, knowing that she would be reunited with her late father, Olin "Beepa" Johnson, her adoring grandparents and many other pre-deceased loved ones who surely welcomed her to heaven. She has always been an angel and her family will love and miss her every single day, forever. Her family would like to thank Terry's oncology care team at MMP Women's Health Division for their long term treatment plans throughout her battle against "the beast" as well as Anette and the hospice staff for their compassion and guidance in her final months. In lieu of flowers please consider honoring Terry's giving spirit by making a donation in her name to either of the following nonprofit organizations that are close to her heart: Hospice of Southern Maine (hospiceofsouthernmaine.org) or the Dream Factory of Maine (dreamfactoryinc.org). Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 21 from 4-6 PM at Dolby, Blais & Segee located at 434 River Rd. in Windham, Maine. A funeral of Catholic mass will take place on Tuesday, November 22 at 11 AM at St. Anne's Church at 299 Main St., Gorham with a celebration of her life to follow the funeral services at Old Robie School, 688 Gray Rd., Gorham.
