THERESA LIDA HALE, 1929 –2016 Portland – Theresa L. Hale, 86, of Windham passed away at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on August 20, 2016. She was born in Portland, the daughter of Irene (England) and George Hannon, Sr. She attended Portland High School and later obtained her high school diploma. Theresa and her husband, the late Sterling H. Crummett, were married in 1946 and made their home in Falmouth for many years, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at West Falmouth Baptist Church. In 1965 they moved with their daughter, Linda, to Casco, where they owned and operated Overlook Farm Inn and later owned and rented cabins on Pleasant Lake. Theresa later married the late Earle C. Hale and moved to Windham, where they enjoyed many years of light farming and gardening on their beautiful property. Theresa was a member of Little Falls Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, filled in playing the organ, and was active in the ladies' group. She was well known by family and friends for her generosity, kindness, sense of humor and also her baked beans and apple squares. While at Fallbrook Residential Care Facility, Theresa continued with her love of music, singing and playing the organ and piano for the other residents and visiting family and friends. Theresa is predeceased by her parents, her two husbands and three brothers, Donald, Ernest, and George Hannon. She is survived by her daughter Linda Vaillancourt and husband Joseph, of Otisfield, grandsons Michael Vaillancourt and wife Catherine of Cape Elizabeth, Matthew Vaillancourt and wife Gail of South Portland, Adam Vaillancourt and wife Kristen, with great-grandsons Connor and Carter of Saco, her sister, Mary Rogers of Old Orchard Beach and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, August 26th at 10:00 am at the Blais and Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church Street, Westbrook, Maine. On line condolences may be expressed at blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
