Westbrook- Theodore William Desveaux, 88, passed away in Portland on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. The son of Charles and Rose (Hamanne) Desveaux, he was born in Rumford on August 28, 1930. He grew up in Rumford, and graduated from Stevens High School. He served his country in the Army National Guard, and was called up during the Korean War, but the war ended before his unit was deployed. He attended Colby College in Waterville. He married Adrienne Bujold on September 17, 1955 and they settled in Waterville, where their three children were born. It was in Waterville that Theodore first started working for the Maine Credit Union League. In 1969 he moved his family to Westbrook to continue his work. It was a job he loved and he eventually became President of the League. He traveled with his wife extensively around the country and around the world promoting Credit Unions, an institution he truly believed in. He was an active member of St. Mary's in Westbrook and when it closed joined St. Anthony's. He volunteered in the church as a Eucharistic Minister, Finance Committee member and Lector. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, and with organizations with the Credit Union. He enjoyed gardening, puzzles, and playing cards. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Adrienne Desveaux of Westbrook, his children Claude Desveaux of Wells, Roger Desveaux, and his wife Maureen of Scarborough, and Claire Wilson, and her husband Lawrence of Norfolk MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michelle Wilson, Carolyn Smith, Thomas Wilson, Marcus Desveaux, Michael Desveaux, Adam Desveaux, Leah Desveaux, and Alyssa Desveaux, his great grandchildren, Madison Wilson, and Hollie Smith, and his sister, Irene Bilodeau of Mexico ME and a large extended family. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 4-6 PM at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua, 268 Brown St. Westbrook. Interment will take place at St. Hyacinth's Cemetery in Westbrook in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theodore's memory to his church, St. Anthony's of Padua.
