Obituary

On April 12, 2025, Thelma Webb Sanborn age 96 of Gorham passed away peacefully at home on Hi-Brook Farm in Gorham, Maine. She was born 1/17/1929 in Gorham, daughter of Hazel (Libby) Webb and Harry S. Webb and wife of Daniel R. Sanborn. She was a loving mother, homemaker, teacher, and farmer. Thelma earned both a B.S. in education from Gorham State Teachers College and a M.S. in education from Boston University. For three decades, she instructed 7th grade science at the Gorham and Westbrook schools. "Timmy" loved knitting, needlepoint, crochet, quilting, and gardening. She and Danny operated dairy and beef farms in Litchfield and Gorham for 40 plus years. She often assisted Dan with farm chores such as driving her favorite Ferguson tractor (Fergy) raking hay. She loved to watch her "Oreo cookies," Dutch Belted Galloway beef herd, grazing in the pastures on the farm. Thelma is survived by her son Jeffrey, daughter-in-law Linda, grandsons Casey, Blake (Jeffrey Ehrenberg), and Peter, as well as her great-granddaughter Brooklyn Sanborn. She was predeceased by husband Daniel Sanborn, and her brother and sisters. Hospice was wonderfully helpful during this challenging period. Special thanks to niece Susanne Greenwood who tenderly assisted Thelma to remain at home her final days. This was her greatest wish. A graveside ceremony with family and friends will be held on July 19th at 10:30 A.M. at Gorham North Street cemetery. Instead of flowers, please send donations for a future teacher scholarship to: Thelma Sanborn Scholarship Fund Gorham High School 41 Morrill Ave. Gorham, ME 04038 Condolences may be sent to Dolby, Blais & Segee at 76 Street, Gorham, or via their website.
