Terri Dawson (1963-2024) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terri Lynn Dawson of Gorham, ME on October 20, 2024 at the Gosnell House surrounded by her family. Twelve years ago, Terri was diagnosed with melanoma and learned in early September, 2024, that it had metastasized. Visiting hours will be on November 1, 2024 from 3-5 PM at Dolby, Blais, Segee Funeral Home 76 State Street, Gorham, ME. A Service will be on November 2, 2024 at 2:00PM at Cressey Road Christian Church, 81 Cressey Road, Gorham, ME. A reception will follow. Terri spent her youth living in Windham, Bridgton, South Portland and Gorham, ME. Terri graduated from South Portland High School in 1981. She attended the University of Southern Maine in Gorham majoring in music. Shortly thereafter, she married Richard Guare and had a son, Christopher. After her divorce, Terri moved to Alaska and later married Hank Dawson. After his passing, she returned to Maine with her son, Chris. Terri enjoyed life to the fullest. Raising her son was the major focus of her life. She enjoyed raising Chris along with her significant other of 30 years, Haven Oliver. Terri also enjoyed being with family and friends, playing music, skiing and kayaking, and her career at Gorham Middle School as a technology integrator. Her latest award received on October 10, 2024 emphasized her impact in the use of technology in education. She is predeceased by her husband, Hank Dawson, her paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Virginia (MA) Thompson, maternal grandparents, Lory and Mary Libby and a favorite uncle, Thomas Day. She is survived by her son, Chris his wife Katie and grandchildren Leah and Calvin along with Haven Oliver, her father, Larry Thompson and his wife Claire, and her mother, Susan Cutler. Terri is also survived by 5 siblings: Mark Thompson (Jenny), Jon Thompson (Ali), Trisha Hughes (Kurt), Shelly Gross (Robby), and Shantelle Roberts (Ralph) along with many nieces and nephews, and a special aunt, Geraldine Day. Terri will be deeply missed by her family, friends,and everyone with whom she shared life moments along with the students she impacted during her career. A technology scholarship for a student in Terri's name will be awarded.
