Standish - Sylvia S. Ranger, 94, died Saturday April 27, 2019. She was born April 12, 1925 in Fryeburg, a daughter of Gilbert and Lula (Harnden) Smith. Sylvia grew up in Fryeburg and attended local schools. She enjoyed careers at the Northland Shoe Shop and owning her own cleaning business and her own daycare. She did homecare for the elderly, was a dietary aid, delivered food. She loved braiding rugs and quilting. One of the things she was proudest of was going to night school at age 45 for get her driver's license. In addition to her parents Sylvia was predeceased by her sons, Jimmy and Perley Ranger, and 11 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Thomas Ranger; daughter, Jeanne Potter, grandchildren, Amaziah, Cassandra and Ellie; and special friends, Linda Sellick, and Valarie Tartt. Sylvia's family would like to thank the staff from All Meds and Ledgewood Manor for their care and support. Services will be private/announced at a later date.
