Sylvia M. (Brackett) Garthe, 79, died Friday November 16, 2018, at the Barron Center in Portland. She was born June 21, 1939, in Gorham a daughter of Harry and Lena (Wentworth) Brackett. Sylvia grew up in Gorham and attended local schools. She enjoyed a career as a spinner in the textile industry and as a Certified Nurse's Assistant. Sylvia was a dedicated member of the Park Avenue Church of God where her church family meant everything to her. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her tough personality. In addition to her parents Sylvia was predeceased by her son Michael Brackett; brother, Larry Brackett; and sisters, Madelyn Hunnewell, Betty Lewis, and Judith Gibson. She is survived by brother Russell Brackett and his wife Susan of Gorham; grandchildren, Tammy, Michael, Shane, and Chelsea; and 5 great grandchildren. Sylvia's family would like to thank friends Lisa and Fran and the staff of the Barren Center for their care of Sylvia during her final days. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Friday November 23, at the Gorham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 76 State Street, Gorham. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service. Burial will be held in the spring at Eastern Cemetery, Gorham. To express
