Obituary

Suzanne E. Grant Age 73 of Yarmouth ME, passed away Friday March 28, 2014 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough after a long courageous battle with colon cancer. She was the wife of Richard H. Grant. Born in Cumberland MD on July 09, 1940  she was the daughter of the late Francis W. Whinnie and Anne (Koscho) Whinnie. Mr. and Mrs. Grant owned and operated Bayview Nursing Home in Middletown RI for 28 years. Mrs. Grant graduated from Ursuline Academy in Cumberland MD in 1958. She then attended St. Francis College then enrolling in the nursing program at Mercy Hospital in Johnstown PA, obtaining her BSN in nursing. Mrs. Grant devoted her life to nursing. She was well respected in the nursing community. While in Maine held many different positions as Director of Nursing as well as started the Beacon Hospice Program. Mrs. Grant had an amazing gift for cooking. Her love for large gatherings and the opportunity to cook for others was a true passion. She spent many summers on Sebago Lake. Mrs. Grant was very involved in the Portsmouth High School RI boosters program never missing her sons football games. Her love for her family, her grandchildren and the holidays was her ultimate gift. Always giving of herself first. A kind, loving, caring soul who will be greatly missed by many. Besides her husband of 46 years, she leaves behind three sons Philip Grant of Portland ME, Douglas Grant of New Boston NH, Scott Grant of Yarmouth ME and a daughter Lillian Goulet of Hollis ME. 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her sister Nancy Grace of Fort Myers FL. She was the sister of the late Ruth Axley. A Mass will be held May 08, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church Yarmouth ME 326 Main Street at 11am.
