Obituary

Stephen R. Sincyr, 70, of Westbrook, Maine passed away on April 4th, 2023 at home surrounded by his wife and sons. Stephen fought a long hard battle with cancer and passed comfortably when it was his time to go. Steve was born in Skowhegan, Maine on the 7th of June 1952 to James William Sincyr Sr. and Belle Edith Sincyr. He was the 14th of 15 children. He is survived by his wife Jeanne Fournier Sincyr, son Justin Sincyr, wife Roseann Vokey and granddaughter Audrey Sincyr, son Ian Sincyr and grandson Bradley Sincyr Newbert. He is also survived by his ex-wife Donna Sincyr, son Stephen Sincyr Jr., grandson Broderick Sincyr-Mulie and daughter Robyn Sincyr; brother John Sincyr and wife Joanne, sister Donna Henderson and husband Richard, sister Sheila Hoster and husband Richard, sister in law Cynthia Fournier, brother in law Stephen Fournier and wife Tabitha. He will also be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews and extended family as well as his faithful companion our beloved family dog Callie. Stephen had a great love for nature and the outdoors. He spent the majority of his adult life as a licensed arborist and landscaper working all over central and southern Maine. Stephen accomplished one of his biggest and most important goals of starting and running his own small business Sincyr Tree and Landscaping Service. He remained active and devoted to the field for many more years until his illness made him unable to do so. He truly enjoyed sharing his love for the outdoors with his family – hiking, fishing and gardening. When Steve wasn't working or fixing things around the house he could often be found tending to his beloved garden or hiking on many trails all over Maine and New Hampshire. We will always treasure the special memories and time spent sharing these pursuits and joys with him as we celebrate his life moving forward. Stephen had a very strong love and devotion to his family. He took a lot of pride in the accomplishments and achievements of his children and grandchildren and always pushed and encouraged them to succeed. He will be deeply missed by all who's lives he has touched . While no funeral services are currently scheduled a private graveside service and celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Skowhegan, Maine as he had wished. In lieu of any flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Maine Cancer Foundation in Falmouth, Maine as all donations remain local.
