Windham- Stephen Lynam Rogers, 72, of Windham passed away, on his birthday, April 17, 2018. The son of Stephen and Gloria (Morelli) Rogers, he was born on April 17, 1946 in Plymouth Massachusetts, a place where he often returned through the years. Steve grew up in Reading Massachusetts and graduated from the Reading Memorial High School. After high school he served his country from 1964-1968, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam in the Special Forces unit. He was honorably discharged in 1968. In that same year he met his first wife Diane, who was the mother of his two sons, Andrew and Jonathan. They were together for 30 years and after their divorce they remained good friends until his death. Steve spent the last part of his life with his second wife Pam, who was a devoted wife, friend, and finally his caretaker in his last days, when his health began deteriorating rapidly. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine and then spend a year at the University of Maine Law school, where he realized the law (no pun intended) was not for him. In his early professional life, Steve started one of the first businesses in the Old Port section of Portland, the infamous, Portland Stripper, known for quality furniture stripping and refinishing. He later went into sales where he spent the rest of his career until he retired. Steve was an outdoorsman and avid fisherman and could not wait until ice out to go after salmon. He was an accomplished carpenter, loyal Patriots Fan, and loved music. He was never boring, and he was never bored. He was an absolutely fearless, one of a kind man. He was reckless, dynamic, charming, resolute, dangerous, exuberant, kind, dominating, and the best friend one could ever want. Steve is gone and the world seems lessened with his passing. May the angles lead him in with songs of the Grateful Dead. Steve was predeceased by his father Stephen. He is survived by his loving wife Pam, his sons Andy, and Jonathan, and his wife Julie, his mother Gloria, his sisters Deborah, Judith, Mollie, and Tara, his step great grandchild Connor, and many nieces and nephews. At his request Steve will be cremated, and a celebration of life open house will be held on Saturday, April 21, from 1-4 PM, at 10 Gilman Rd Ext, Standish ME 04084. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Steve's memory to the wounded warrior project http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
