Obituary

Stephen L. Nicholas of Westbrook, died on Sunday Feb. 5, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough. He was born in Westbrook, Sept. 13, 1942, the son of Rebecca and Louis Nicholas. Steve graduated from Westbrook High School in 1960 and attended Fort Kent University. He married Theresa McGrath on June 10, 1967. Steve was a long tme employee of the Maine Medical Center. Throughout his life Steve had a love for reading, particularly biographies and Robert Parker novels. He enjoyed sports, music, movies and collectibles. Steve was most proud of being a dad and Papa and enjoyed attending and following his children and grandchildren's activities. Steve is survived  by his wife of 44 years Theresa, daughters Laurie and her partner Mike Nixon and Kathleen and husband Morgan Baxter all of Gorham, sons John and wife Erin of Windham, Michael  and girlfriend Jayme Senkbeil of Newton, MA., a sister Susan Nicholas McBride and partner Dan Conner of Westbrook, grandchildren William, Sarah, Athena and Demetria and several nieces and nephews. An hour of visitation will take place on Wednesday Feb. 8, from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. at the Blais & Hay Funeral Home 35 Church St. Westbrook. Spring interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of VNA Hospice and the Gosnell Hospice House  for their compassion and kind care given to Steve.
