Casco – Stephen Howard Long, 66, passed away on Sunday May 1st at his home in Casco surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Portland Maine on December 8, 1949, the son of June and Kenneth Long. He graduated from Windham High School in 1968 and went on to SMVTI for a degree in Automotives. He served in the US Military from 1971-1972 stationed in Germany. He was a part-time police office for the Town of Windham. At the age of 20 he was the youngest franchise member to have his own Shell station in Windham Maine. In 1980 he opened Raymond Service Center, in Raymond Maine, which he owned and operated with his wife Edra until 2002. When retiring from the automotive industry he went to work for Windham Public Works as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Towing and Recovery association of Maine for 25 years. He was WreckMaster towing and recovery instructor, teaching the art of recovery work and safety. In his younger years he was a drag car racer at Oxford Plains. He was a certified scuba diver. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, gardening, landscaping, and all things outdoor related. He loved dogs and training them. Above all, he loved his family and was always willing to help them and anyone else who needed his assistance. Stephen is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Edra, his in-laws Marion and Peter Cimellaro of Florida, his daughter Erica, son Justin, daughter Twanna and her husband Lance, grandson Mackenzie, granddaughter Bleau and her husband Chris, grandson Ricky, great-grandson Decklin and great-granddaughter Stella. He will be forever loved and missed by so many. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the friends and loved ones who came to visit and sit with him in his final weeks and days. The stories, the joy, the friendship that was shared will not be forgotten. To let him how he touched their lives, and what he meant to them before he left this world was an honest and true blessing to him. We would also like to thank the angles from the VNA Hospice who treated our family as they would their own. He was as tough as a boiled owl, every accolade he earned. A memorial service will be held at 6pm, on Friday, May 13, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham.
