Obituary

Stanley Warren Douglas went to meet his maker on July 10, 2025. He was born on November 30, 1937, at the family farm on Running Hill Road in Scarborough where he lived and worked as a dairyman for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Alma (Smith) Douglas, a son, Stephen B. Douglas, a grandson Thomas Searles, and his second wife L. Elaine (Gallant) Douglas. Stanley is survived by his siblings Dale of Connecticut, Donna Tripp of Norway, Alfred of Windham, and Blaine of Brunswick. His remaining children are Warren of Cornish, Christopher of Washington state, Jeffrey of Mendoza, Argentina, James of Cornish, Patricia Searles of Saco, and Kevin of Saco, nine grandchildren , and two great grandchildren. He was married to Betty-Jane Temm (Grant) from 1958 through 1965. Stanley was a graduate of Scarborough High school's class of 1956. He was a life-long member of the North Scarborough Grange. He was very active in the Maine State Grange and officiated activities throughout southern Maine for about 20 years. He was proud of his 1956-1960 service in the Maine National Guard as a heavy equipment operator. Stanley enjoyed completing puzzles, making latch hook projects, discussions of family history, and genealogy. He was a life member, seventh degree Granger. He looked forward to his annual participation in Grange Pomona events and working the Grange tent at the Fryeburg Fair. During the late 1960s and early 1970s he was very active as the Southern Maine representative for the National Farmers Organization (NFO) which attempted to establish a meaningful income for Maine farmers. He was the Maine state representative at the NFO national convention in St. Louis in the late 1960s. A celebration of his life is planned for August 9th, 2025 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Dolby Blais and Segee Funeral Home 434 River Road, Windham ME. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorials are donated to the North Scarborough, Maine State Grange, or Future Farmers of America. His remains will be interred at the Riverside Cemetery in Cornish, Maine.
