Obituary

Shirley Erickson passed away on June 27, 2024, surrounded by her family. She passed peacefully in her sleep. Shirley was born on October 5, 1933. She was the fourth of sixteen children born to Donald and Della Kenfield Miner, in Morrisville, Vermont. The family moved to Sebago Lake when she was nine years old. She has always had fond memories of growing up with her brothers and sisters. Shirley is predeceased by her parents and siblings, William (Bill) Miner, Newbern (Bud) Miner, Donald Miner, Glenna Boothby, Sandra Foster, Charlotte Stevens and her youngest sister, Margaret Miner. She is survived by her brothers, Gene Miner and his wife Beverly, Malcolm Miner and his wife Launa, Fred Miner, Ronald Miner and his wife Sandra and by her sisters, Ruth Cox, Marilyn Wood and her husband Larry, Beverly Bustin Hathaway and Joan Brown. When asked about growing up in a large family, she always said that they all took care of each other and she swore that they were all her favorites. In March of 1950, Shirley married Earl H. Erickson and moved to the Little Falls area of Gorham. There, they built their own house and raised five children. She was predeceased by her husband Earl in 2012 and by their son, Rex H. Erickson in 2007 as well has her parents-in-law, Rudolph and Arlene Parsons Erickson. Shirley is survived by her children, Deborah and her husband David Perry and their children, Stacie Perry and Steven Perry and his wife Hathaway, Tony Erickson and his wife Darlene and their children Tony J. Erickson and his wife Jessica and daughter Hailey and Gregg Erickson and his wife Lindsey, Rex's wife Lynn Erickson and their children Eric Erickson and Cory Erickson, Julie and her husband Ronald Harmon and their daughter Misty Haddock and her husband Jason and son Jaden, Chris Erickson and his wife Kirsten and their son Aaron Erickson and several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. For many years, Shirley was a school-crossing guard at the Little Falls school. She always loved her gardens and she and Earl spent many hours keeping the lawns neatly trimmed. Together they enjoyed camping and boating as well as snowmobiling and motorcycle riding. They took road trips whenever they could find the time; to Vermont to visit relatives, Canada and Laconia NH for motorcycle gatherings. Her favorite trip was to Tennessee to see Graceland and Dollywood. Her final wishes were to reach the age of 90 and to be able to stay in her home until the end. Both were accomplished with the help of family and friends. A grave-site service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 13th at Hillside Cemetery in Gorham.
