Sherry Marie Pomelow (Lappin), 75, of Davenport, FL., passed away on December 31, 2025 from a stroke and an ongoing battle with COPD. Born November 16, 1950, the daughter of Eugene Clifford Lappin Jr. and Sadie Anna Lappin (Strout). Sherry lived most of her life in Gorham, ME. before moving to Florida to live with her son and his family in 2022.

Sherry grew up in Westbrook, ME., the oldest of six children. She married the love of her life, Steven Pomelow, and they moved to Gorham to start and raise their family. Besides being a devout wife and mother to their two children, Steven and Tina, Sherry was a hard worker to help provide for her family. She loved spending time with her family at Two Lights State Park, spending summer at Acres of Wildlife Campground, and block parties on Spruce Lane where they lived. She also enjoyed spending time with close friends and neighbors, especially her closest friend, Martha. They would spend hours sharing stories and just talking about anything and everything.

One of Sherry’s favorite things to say was “small things come in small packages”. Although she was only 4’11”, she was one of the toughest women you would come across. In her mid-30s, Sherry suffered a stroke that left her left arm and hand inoperable. Being left-handed, she had to learn to do things using her non-dominant arm. Later, she would become a breast cancer survivor and dealt with a diagnosis of COPD and emphysema. She definitely packed a big punch in such a small stature. Through all of her health battles and the loss of her husband of 50 years in 2021, the thing that gave her the most joy was her family and friends. From chats with her sisters, Debbie and Patty, to being a Mimi to her grandchildren, Sherry did everything she could to find happiness in everything she did and everyone she talked to.

Sherry is survived by son Steven Pomelow II and his wife Aimee of Davenport, FL., daughter Tina Eastman (Pomelow) and her husband Robert of Gorham, ME. grandchildren: Tyler Eastman and his wife Mandie -of Hollis, ME., Austin Pomelow, New Gloucester, ME., Andrew Eastman of Gorham, ME., and Mitchell Stuart of Davenport, FL. She is also survived by sisters Patty Michaud (Lappin) and her husband Victor and Debbie Cox (Lappin) and her partner Lucien, along with several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held May 8 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Dolby, Blais & Segee – Westbrook Chapel, 35 Church St. Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland in Westbrook, ME.
