Obituary

GORHAM - Sherrie (Hackett) Hatch, 63, passed away after a long illness on October 9, 2022, at Gorham House. She was born on March 27, 1959, in Lewiston, Maine. Sherrie graduated from Bonny Eagle High School, Class of 1977 and went on to earn a Chemical Engineering degree from The University of Maine, Orono, Class of 1982. After college, Sherrie made a successful career in the insurance industry, working for several large Life and Disability insurance carriers. In 1994, Sherrie married Scott Hatch and settled in Derry, NH with his two sons. Sherrie, forever young at heart, could usually be found surrounded by family and friends, almost always at a party she was hosting. Sherrie was known for throwing elaborate celebrations. Whether it was a pirate party for her nephews, a graduation party for a son, or Movies on the Lawn, you could count on Sherrie to throw the best one! If you wanted to see Sherrie from May to September, you better throw on your bathing suit and meet her for a walk at Old Orchard Beach or head to the lake. Summer was undoubtedly Sherrie's favorite season. Her home on Sebago Lake was her happy place. Whether she was spending time with her float tied to an anchor, and a book in her hand, playing games with family and friends, or riding around on the boat, Sherrie was always happiest at the lake. Sherrie is survived by her mother, Romance Hackett; husband, Scott Hatch; sons, Christopher and Steven Hatch; brother, Peter Hackett, and his wife, Carole; brother Jay Hackett and Helene Rush; nephews, Andrew and Benjamin Hackett; and three grandchildren, Bianca, Olivia, and Jacob Hatch. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Gorham House for the excellent care they provided Sherrie over the last couple of years. A celebration of life will be held 1-4 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the Windham Veterans Center, 35 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Windham, Maine 04062. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406.
