Springfield, MA. – Sharon Melorie Hawkes Berghoff, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 26, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center. She was 71 years old. She had recently battled with complications from diabetes and pancreatitis. Sharon was born December 17, 1940 in Standish, ME. To Merle and Delmont Hawkes. After High School, she stayed in Maine, where she graduated from St. Joseph's College. She married and raised 4 children. She was a cook, a councelor, a tutor, a maid, a chauffeur, a seamstress, a laundress, a friend and so much more. With her children grown, she went back to school to earn her Masters in Education from Carlow University. She worked at the Carnegie Mellon Children's School for many years and then worked as a preschool teacher in Murrysville, PA. for several years before retiring. She is survived by her brother Alan of Sebago Lake, her children William of Easthampton, MA., Lynn of Kensington, MD., Kim of Mechanicsburg, PA and Jeff of Monroeville, PA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren Graveside Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hamlin Cemetery Boundary Rd. Standish.
