Buxton- Sarah Sue (Kegley) Terrano, passed peacefully with her family by her side on June 26, 2018. She was born on October 6, 1941 in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Carl and Clara Kegley. She was a coal miner's daughter. She attended school in Princeton West Virginia until moving to Virginia where she attended Mount Vernon and Fairfax High school. She met the love of her life on a blind date on February 22, 1958, Philip C Terrano from Portland Maine. He was currently serving in the US Army. They were married on October 16, 1958 and then moved to Portland Maine and had five children. Ten years later, the family moved back to Virginia. While in Virginia, Sarah was employed with Common Wealth Doctors Hospital, as a nurses' aid and also worked some private duty. Sarah and her family decided to move back to Maine where she became employed with MMC, first as a patient accounts specialist, then moving on to the Cardiac Cath Lab, this was the job she loved the most. Sarah loved to read a good book and to read about the places she wanted to go. Sarah and her husband Philip traveled to over 22 countries, 7 cruises and many islands. Family meant the most to Sarah and most of her immediate family lived in the south where the family made yearly trips to Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Georgia for many wonderful family reunions. Sarah loved babies and children, and never let one pass by her without her stopping to say hi to them. Sarah was an avid Red Sox fan, Celtics fan, and Patriots fan. Sarah was a great cook and some of her specialty items were southern fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, biscuits and gravy, pinto beans and cornbread and on Sundays for many years spaghetti and meatballs, that she learned from her mother in-law. Sarah always gave back to her church community, St. Anne's in Gorham Maine. Here, Sarah made Pizzelle Italian cookies every year for the Christmas fair, she taught faith formation to the second graders, and was also a greeter at the church on Sundays. For many years, Sarah and her husband also sponsored children from other countries. She also volunteered her time at the Preble Street soup kitchen. Sarah is survived by her husband and love of her life Philip of 60 years, son Mathew Terrano and wife Sharon of Windham, son Mark Terrano of Limington, son Philip Terrano of Buxton, daughter Dina Burlock of Gorham, and daughter Sherri and husband Dana Ferrante of Buxton.
