Obituary

Sandra Mae (Lawler) Thorpe, 79, of Windham, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021. She was born on September 2, 1941 in Brighton, MA to parents Alfred and Dottie (Thomson) Lawler. Sandra grew up in Holliston Mass where she attended Holliston High School. There she met the love of her life Walter Thorpe. After graduation they were married on July 1st1960. Both Sandra and Walter drove buses. Walter drove buses for B&W in and out of Boston and Sandra drove buses for Northborough School Dept. Walter and Sandra moved to Maine in 1969 to raise a family of five. Sandra worked as a secretary for St. Johnsbury Trucking. Sandra worked many years for Sebago Shoe Factory hand sewing boat shoes, often she would bring home bundles of shoes where the entire family would hand sew literally thousands of shoes right in the living room of the house. She ended her career at the factory working as the administrative assistant to HR. Sandra opened a ceramic shop at home where she loved to teach the art of painting and finish of ceramics. Sandy's hobbies included quilting, sewing, and knitting. Sandy's ability to quilt was second to none. She loved traveling in the RV with Wally and their dog Coco. Road trip destinations in the RV included driving to the west coast and back through the south west back to Pennsylvania to visit the Amish country. Sandy loved having companions which at one time included four parrots, her beloved dog Coco and "Gizzey" the cat. Sandra is survived by her five children, Son William "Bill" Thorpe and wife Joyce of Sanford, Daughters Robyn Manchester of Gorham, Nadine Nichols of Bridgton, Doreen Mattson of Windham, and youngest son Kenneth Thorpe and wife Patricia of Gorham. Brother Paul Lawler and wife Celeste. Brother Allen and wife Shelly. Sandra is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Sandra is predeceased by her husband Walter Thorpe, sister Dottie Witham, and grandson Mitchel Thorpe. Services are to be announced for springtime.
