WESTBROOK - Sandra (Sandy) Kay Allen, 74, of Westbrook, died May 3, 2024 at the home of her brother Darrell LaChance and his wife Judy after a short battle with cancer. She was born on August 15, 1949 in Sanford, Maine, the daughter of Raymond and Rita (Rivard) LaChance. Sandy graduated from Westbrook High School, class of 1967. Sandy married Albert May in 1968 after dating all through high school. They had two children together, Tina and Brian. After divorce, Sandy found the love of her life, Charles (Chipper) Allen and they married on October 30, 1987. They moved to Florida in 1991 where Sandy's parents lived in Winter Haven. Sandy and Chipper attended the Solid Rock Anglican Church of WInter Haven, Florida. They were very much involved in all aspects of the church for 26 years, making many lifelong friends. In 2017 they moved back to Maine to be with their Maine family they had missed so much for so many years. Here, they attended the Stroudwater Christian Church in Portland and were welcomed with open arms. Sandy so loved this congregation, the warmth of the pastor and the people. Sandy enjoyed working for S.D. Warren (Sappi), Suntrust Bank and Wyndham Guard Shack in Winter Haven. Her and Chipper loved to bowl and belonged to a weekly bowling league. She LOVED her doggie COCO, and he was so spoiled.Going out for fried clams and having lobster with corn on the cob were two of her summer favorites. But the most important thing to her was spending time with Chipper and her family. Sandy was predeceased by her husband Charles (Chipper) Allen, son Brian May, her parents Raymond and Rita LaChance, and brother Michael LaChance and his wife Sharon, step-son Mark Allen. She leaves behind her daughter Tina (May) Pike and her husband Daniel Pike, two brothers, Richard LaChance and fiance Donna Weaver and Darrell LaChance and wife Judy (Lampron) LaChance, granddaughter Kameron Greer, grandson Brian Greer, step-daughter Roxanne (Allen) Montgomery, step-son Charles W. Allen and wife Bernice Allen, step-daughter Edith (Allen) Tarbell and fiance Marcel poirier, step-son Bennett Allen and his partner Beverly White. Sandy also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step, step grandchildren, and a step, step, great grandchild. She loved her large extended family and everyone loved Sandy. Visiting hour is Wednesday, May 15th, at 10:00am with a memorial service at 11:00am and a reception to follow at Stroudwater Christian Church, 1520 Westbrook Street, Portland, Reverend Robb Gossen officiating.
