Ruth M. Adriance, 92, of Longfellow Place, Westbrook, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at Maine Medical Center with family at her side. Ruth was born in Portland, ME October 27, 1922 to Danish immigrants, Soren and Selma (Hansen) Jensen and she was very proud of her Danish heritage by being a member of the Danish Sisterhood of America since the age of 17. She was a graduate of Deering High School in 1940 and was a stay at home mom for many years before joining the work force at Sears & Roebuck where she retired after 26 years. Ruth was a very private individual. She loved spending time with her family helping out in the gardens "weeding" whether it was flowers or veggies, and she never forgot a birthday. She loved being close to the water especially picnicking at Bug Light watching the cruise ships leave Portland Harbor. One of her favorite pastimes was viewing boats of all kinds on the Saco River from her daughter's deck. Along her journey, she enjoyed bird watching, jigsaw puzzles, making hooked rugs for family, and playing bingo with her friends at Longfellow Place. She had fond memories of the trips taken with family that included Hawaii, Florida, Nevada, and the Maritime Provinces. Over the holidays, Nana looked forward to the concerts each year that her grandsons participated in. She appreciated all she had, and was grateful to maintain her independence throughout her lifetime. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Kimberly Bolduc-Roberts; a grandson Keith Adriance; son-in-law Robert Bolduc Sr., and a sister Irma Segler. Ruth is survived by her sons Ronald and wife Pat of Gorham, Wayne and wife Barbara of Gray, and Dale and wife Juliene of Westbrook; daughter Charlotte Bolduc of Saco; grandchildren Rhonda, Roxanne, Michael, Mark, Nicholas, Corey, Tyler, and Alexander; step grandchildren Debra, Robert Jr., Alan, Lynn, and Casey; great grandchildren Jared, Jacob, Alli, Christie, Olivia, Paige, Caitlyn, and Olivia; a brother Roy Jensen of Bowie, MD; a sister Lillian Berry of Amherst, NH; and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held for family at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco, ME at 11:00 AM Saturday October 10th. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Saturday, October 10th, from 1 to 4 PM at the Portland Elks Lodge, 1945 Congress St, Portland.
