Obituary

SCARBOROUGH – Ruth (Prince) Baker went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior at the Gosnell Hospice House on February 29, 2016 after a serious fall. Ruth was born in Camden, ME on May 16, 1923 the daughter of Edwin and Agnes Prince. She was educated in the Camden schools graduating from Camden High School in 1941. Ruth married Walter J. Baker in Waterville, ME on June 29, 1941. They resided in Portland, ME for a few years before moving to Falmouth, ME. They spent many years in Falmouth raising their family. Ruth was a homemaker and loving wife and mother. Ruth and Walter were longtime members of the Falmouth Congregational Church. Ruth was active for many years in the Ladies Guild. Ruth and Walter worked side by side on many church suppers, fairs and at the Wayside Soup Kitchen in Portland. As the boys grew older, Ruth was employed by the former Canal Bank of Portland. She was later employed at the office of Dr. David Lovely. She was also employed for many years in the Medical Records Department at Maine Medical Center. Ruth also belonged to the TMTM Club in Falmouth. The girls became very close friends and enjoyed many wonderful times over the years. After the boys were grown and left home, Ruth and Walter moved to a condo in Yarmouth, ME. Ruth served on the Condo Association Board. They resided in Yarmouth for a number of years before moving to the Woods at Canco in Portland. At the time of her death, Ruth was a resident of Clark's Terrace at Park Danforth in Portland. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Warren, her beloved husband, Walter and her daughter-in-law, Marylee Baker. She is survived by her two sons, David and his wife, Kathy of Raymond, ME and Bruce Baker of East Brunswick, NJ; three grandchildren, Julie Baker, Pamela Shackford, and David, Jr. and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Falmouth Congregational Church, 267 Falmouth Road, Falmouth, ME on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00pm. A time of fellowship will follow in the church vestry.
