It is with great sadness that the family of Russell Glidden, beloved husband and father, announces his passing on October 22, 2023 after a brief illness. As a youth he attended Windham schools, the International School in Bangkok, Thailand before graduating from Windham High School. Russ received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Maine. After graduation he was employed by the Trust Department of Casco Bank and Trust in Portland, Maine. This was the beginning of his career as a financial consultant and business entrepreneur. Russ shared his love of music and singing by participating in numerous choral and church choirs. Most recently he was a member of the Portland Community and Magic of Christmas choruses. He was a member of the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church choir and church. Russ also had the opportunity earlier this year to sing with a group of individuals for a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City. His hobbies included playing cribbage and bridge. As a past President of the Woodfords Club in Portland, he started a bridge club and organized over the years, local tournaments for both cribbage and bridge. He is survived by his wife, Penny to whom he was married to for 51 years. He also leaves behind a son, Ryan (Stephanie), a daughter, Darraugh (Ryan) and grandchildren Kristen, Owen, Austin, Logan, Leah and Wyatt. He has been so proud of the athletic and musical talents they have, and the individuals they are becoming. Memorial donations may be made to the University of Southern Maine Foundation in Russ's memory to help establish a scholarship to support music students. Visitation will be held on June 29, 2024 at Dolby, Blais & Segee -Windham Chapel from 1:00 -2:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00.
