Roxanna Lucille York, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully at her home on April 8, 2026, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Portland, Maine, on June 16, 1956, Roxanna was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Dix and Shirley Reynolds. She grew up in the Portland area and pursued a business degree at the University of Southern Maine.
Roxanna devoted many years of her life to her family as a proud military wife for 14 years, supporting her husband through assignments across the United States and Europe. She embraced each move with resilience and grace, creating a warm and loving home wherever they were stationed.
In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, Roxanna worked for 15 years at the University of Southern Maine Print Shop, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly spirit. After retiring, she later returned to the workforce for the simple joy of it, working at Joann Fabrics, where she enjoyed connecting with others and sharing her love of creativity.
Roxanna was a woman who truly loved everyone. She was generous to a fault, always giving to anyone in need and never expecting anything in return. Her kindness and selflessness left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She found great joy in sewing, crafting, fishing, and gardening, and loved craft fairs. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially traveling together to Hawaii, where she created many treasured memories.
Roxanna was a dedicated member of the Disabled America Veterans, American Legion and the 40 & 8, where she held multiple leadership roles, including serving as President. She was also a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as the church librarian. Her commitment to service extended into her community, volunteering at the Veterans nursing home and supporting numerous charitable causes.
Roxanna shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Gary York of Westbrook, a testament to a life rooted in love, commitment, and partnership.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gary York of Westbrook; her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Courtney York of Rockland; her daughter and son-in-law, Angele and Michael Celeste of Windham; her cherished grandchildren, Logan York, Aria Celeste, and Emerie Celeste; her cousin, Patricia Dyer of Westbrook; as well as multiple cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Southern Maine Hospice for their compassionate care during this difficult time, and to members of the church for their unwavering support and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Roxanna’s memory through donations to Nanna’s House, a charity founded by a dear friend of her daughter’s—someone who was always part of their home and hearts. Donations can be made online at nannashouse.me or by mail to 2 Bay Road, South Portland, Maine 04106.
A 40 & 8 ceremony will be held at 9:00 a.m., with the service following at 10:00 a.m. on April 18th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 755 River Road, Windham.
Roxanna will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
