Obituary

STANDISH - Heaven received another angel on Thursday, November 9th when Rose lost her long battle with Fronto Temporal Dementia. Rose's heart was full, surrounded by her family, children, and grandchildren. Family, friends and caring for people was part of Rose's DNA always opening her door and heart to those in need. Rose was often heard saying where there's a will there's a way and anything is possible. Born in Lewiston May 13,1940 Rose was the daughter of Isabelle (Call) and Paul DeHahn, Rose was raised in Brunswick and was one of 13 children, surviving siblings are Ralph of Hollywood, FL, Helen of Brunswick, Peggy of Topsham, Richard of New Mexico, Paulette of Lincolnton, NC and Bobby of Houlton ME. Rose's six children are Marie, Al, Annette and Tim of Gorham ME, Jerry of Bessemer City, NC and Denise of Standish, ME. Rose was blessed to have ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren lovingly referred to as GG, Grammy Great Soule and Nana. The bear hugs and "neck nuzzle" she gave all of us will forever be in our hearts. Rose was also known for drive-by visits, calling around to see who was serving what for dinner. Pop-in visits were frequent and always welcomed by her family.Rose fulfilled a life long dream of becoming a nurse and was a 1983 graduate from S.M.V.T.I.'s LPN program working at Maine Medical Center for 18 years. She was also the first to complete a higher education all while raising her children and working full-time. Rose was an active member of Casco's United Church of Christ, often baking pies for church dinners especially popular were her lemon meringue pies! Rose loved to travel with her partner Paul Edes for greater than 15 years, they traveled on cruises did many roadtrips, were avid movie buffs. Rose grew up on roller skates and skated well into her 50's and 60's which was amazing given she was a tad clumsy. On skates she was gliding on air, smooth and carefree. In the end as her words diminished, she would hold our hands and say "I'll be looking at the moon, but I'll be seeing you". A memorial service will be celebrated at 1pm on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Windham Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham, where a period of visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow to North Gorham Cemetery, Gorham. After the burial, family and friends are invited to a gathering at Old Robie School, 668 Gray Rd, South Windham.
