Westbrook – Rose Louise Sanville Hood, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 17, at the Barron Center. Rose was born Dec. 31, 1921 in Gorham, the daughter of Althie and Martha Day Sanville. She lived most of her life in Westbrook. She was a 1941 graduate of Westbrook High School. She married Vance C. Hood Jr. in 1942. Rose worked for many years at the S. D. Warren Paper Co. and later at the Westbrook Junior High School. Her passion was having fun with family and friend's, she especially loved a good laugh. She loved children and found particular joy in her great grandson William, whom she called "W". She was pre deceased by her husband Vance in 2008, after 66 years of marriage, she was also pre deceased by 7 brothers and 2 sisters. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Rosemary Hood, granddaughter Kacey McGimsey, her husband Jason Hjort and her beautiful great grandson William Vance Hjort, son in law James DeMint, sister in law Honor Sanville, brother in law Sherrod Holcomb as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. Graveside Services will be held Friday July 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Blais & Hay Funeral Home 35 Church St. Westbrook. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Barron Center for the care and friendship, they gave to Rose.
