Rosalie Richard, 88, of Stroudwater St., Westbrook, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. She was born in Sacramento, CA, the daughter of John and Josephine August. She met Omer Richard during World War II and they married and moved to Maine. She worked for Diamond International in Peru, ME for many years before retiring. Rosalie enjoyed traveling with her husband for many years. Rosalie had a passion for gardening and kept a beautiful garden wherever they lived. She was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching many sports, tennis was her favorite. Rosalie was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Omer one year ago and a sister Elsie of California. She is survived by sons John Richard of Idaho, and Jim and wife Debbie Richard of Westbrook; daughters Jeanne Wilbur and husband Ron, Jolene and husband Audie Dufrenne, and Julie and husband Mark Tompkins, all of Louisiana; grandchildren David Richard, Jessica Richard, Lindsay Nichols, Danielle Linn, and Nicholas Linn; great grandchildren Caitlin Finley, Liam Finley, Euan Finley, and Peter Nichols; a brother and two sisters of CA; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. Interment for Rosalie and Omer will be in the Maine Veterans Cemetery.
